Keep Yourself Warm - youtube

Two videos of James doing vocals on "Keep Yourself Warm", from Frightened Rabbit's 30/7/08 gig at the Captains Rest, Glasgow. This was being recorded for their "Liver! Lung! FR!" album.

Also, if you haven't seen it, here's James doing vocals on FR's "Be Less Rude" at the Connect Festival, 2007:

Finally, apparently TS covered Joy Division's "Candidate" at the Scottish Mental Health Arts & Film Festival gig at the ABC in Glasgow on 9/10/08. It also sounds like they collaborated on Jack Lee/Blondie's "Hanging on the Telephone". If anyone has audio/video please post the links!

Here' s what the mhfestival.com website said before the event:

"We've invited, over two consecutive evenings, some of Scotland's best known and loved musicians to play together. Performing both individually and together, they are sure to create two very special and unique nights. Eager to explore personal and emotional relationships between music, mental health, creativity and recovery all the artists involved are committed to generously contributing to the festival and its aims.

Vitamin A (Thurs 9): Guitarist Rod Jones (Idlewild) has invited fellow musicians Norman Blake (Teenage Fanclub), Sons and Daughters and The Twilight Sad to perform individual sets and collaborate as part of a not to be missed and perhaps never to be seen again 'supergroup' with special guests. Weaving in themes from our film events, expect Joy Division or Johnny Cash numbers as part of the mix."

Unfortunately these are available to the USA only. If anyone can help me get hold of the two tracks I'd love to hear from you!

Climbing Up The Walls

Thought it might be an idea to post this, as it seems the mp3 can't be downloaded at the original source anymore.

The Twilight Sad's cover of Radiohead's "Climbing Up The Walls", from "Stereogum Presents... OKX: A Tribute To OK Computer" (2007).

New Twilight Sad tracks

Two new songs played live at the Bodega Social on 25th March (see last post for full gig).... Both I believe are from the forthcoming EP.

Edit: only the first track is from the new mini-album/EP. It was apparently played in Nottingham with the working title "jimmy dee".

The Twilight Sad - Bodega Social, Nottingham, 25/3/08

Full recording from Tuesday's excellent gig in Nottingham. Not great audio quality, as I used my mp3 player with its cheap mic so expect distortion!

Tracklisting:

1. intro
2. walking for two hours
3. that summer, at home i had become the invisible boy
4. jimmy dee (here, it never snowed. afterwards it did)
5. talking with fireworks / here, it never snowed
6. [new song]
7. and she would darken the memory
8. i'm taking the train home*
9. cold days from the birdhouse

*with some lyrics from frightened rabbit's "keep yourself warm"

Here as a zipfile with tracks as separate mp3s:
Download (rapidshare)
size: 63MB

Or as a zipped single mp3 with a .cue file, so you can burn as a gapless CD:
Download (rapidshare)
size: 68MB

Edit: I've added the working title apparently used at the gig for "here, it never snowed..."

Edit 2: DiS review here.
